During my time with a Big 4 firm in New Zealand, I noticed a proven model: while routine accounting tasks were efficiently handled offshore to reduce costs, senior professionals in New Zealand managed the final review, ensuring accuracy and compliance. This model worked well for large organisations but left small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) behind.
